Junior Project Support Officer, Amanda Mitchell, represented CCLLEN at the Parliament of Victoria Youth Forum in April.
On Wednesday April 17th, at Kyabram Fauna Park, a group of young adults aged 16-30 were provided the opportunity to attend the Parliament of Victoria Youth Forum to openly provide insight on current barriers young adults face within rural towns.
Each group was allocated a different topic, where participants were encouraged to explore current barriers and propose actionable solutions for consideration by the Parliament of Victoria.
On behalf of the Campaspe Cohuna LLEN, Project Support Officer, Amanda Mitchell had the opportunity to attend the Youth Forum, discussing and sharing her ideas and solutions on the topic of Mental Health.
“I had the privilege to engage with individuals from various ages who participated in the discussion surrounding the accessibility of receiving mental health services within and outside of educational sectors. Together, we explored the barriers young adults encounter when seeking mental health support, brainstorming potential solutions to improve accessibility and streamline the process of obtaining necessary care for young Australians living in rural towns. It’s clear that significant changes are needed to ensure that everyone regardless of location, can access the support required. The Youth Forum was both insightful and enjoyable, and I am encouraged by the genuine interest demonstrated by Government MPs in our contributions. I am eager to see the outcomes of this collaborative effort.”
