We have been busy in the L2P Program! For the month of June, we have had five new Learners matched with a Mentor and another two are awaiting their first drive lesson in July after which, they will also be matched and out and about driving!
A Mentor Training Session was held on 27 May which was greatly attended,and has resulted in five new Mentors across the Echuca, Rochester and Rushworth areas. Special thanks to those who attended and have become part of our L2P family.
We do, however, still have an extensive waitlist of learners and would welcome additional Mentors to our program. The very core of the L2P Program is to promote safe driving practice, which can only be achieved with support from a supervising driver – our Mentors.
We were recently invited by the Echuca Moama Centennial Probus Club to present at their June meeting. Approx. 80 attendees were informed about the L2P and MATES Mentoring Programs, resulting in some expressions of interest, which is very encouraging.
A big congratulations to our L2P Mentor, Terry James, who was the recipient of this year's Department of Transport L2P Mentor Award for "Best Supporting Mentor". A very well-deserved recognition, well done Terry!
