On March 8, 2025, the world will once again come together to celebrate International Women’s Day (IWD)—a day dedicated to honoring the achievements of women and advocating for gender equality. This year’s theme, “Inspire Inclusion”, highlights the importance of fostering a world where all women, regardless of background, have equal opportunities to thrive, lead, and succeed.
From boardrooms to classrooms, from laboratories to sports arenas, women continue to break barriers and challenge outdated norms. However, while significant progress has been made, many challenges remain—gender pay gaps, lack of representation in leadership, and societal biases that hinder women's progress.
IWD 2025 in Echuca Moama
This year, the Echuca Moama International Women’s Day event was held at the Moama Bowling Club, drawing nearly 200 attendees. A panel of remarkable local women, ranging in age from their early twenties to their seventies, shared their perspectives on the evolving challenges and opportunities for women over time. Guided by MC Christy O’Brien, the discussion was insightful, inspiring, and a testament to the resilience and contributions of women in the region.
Organised by the Committee for Echuca Moama (C4EM), the event was a resounding success, featuring sponsor gift bags, lucky door prizes, and a strong community spirit. Looking ahead to IWD 2026, C4EM will unveil the 100 Extraordinary Women: A Snapshot in Time—a tribute to 100 inspiring women currently living in the Campaspe or Murray region. Nominations across all shires are welcome, ensuring that the stories of incredible women in our community are celebrated and preserved.
