The Echuca Moama Youth Expo gave students the opportunity to explore all the youth, health and welfare services available to them.
1000 students from our five local secondary schools came together on Wednesday 11 September to the fourth Echuca Moama Youth Expo which was coordinated by Campaspe Cohuna LLEN.
Years 8, 9 and 10 students from Echuca College, Echuca Specialist School, Moama Anglican Grammar, River City Christian College and St Joseph’s College attended the Expo, engaging and interacting with exhibitors from health and welfare services, community groups, sporting organisations and youth services.
There were plenty of interactive exhibits including kickboxing, puzzles, football handballing, selfies, weight lifting, painting, fitness exercises, colouring, physio, boxing, pig drawing personality quiz and lots of surveys.
Throughout the day we were entertained by musical performances from each school which gave students the opportunity to show off their talents. The art exhibition was also a great way for students to display their artwork and the People’s Choice competition was well-received.
Exhibitors were provided with morning tea from Twin Rivers Café and lunch catered by Echuca College’s VET Hospitality students.
Moama Bowling Club sponsored the expo.
The expo connected young people to their community. Some comments from students:

“It made me realise that there is something out there for everyone and that everyone is welcome to belong somewhere.”
“I liked how we got to see what is going on in the community because not many high school kids get to take a look at what is actually happening in their community.”
“I liked how interactive everything was and I like that I could join in to activities and talk to the people and learn more about what they do and how they help the youth.”
