Our MATES Mentoring Program continues to thrive, with several schools and their students actively participating across the region. The program fosters meaningful connections between young people and caring adult mentors, helping to build confidence, resilience, and a sense of belonging.
On June 24, we held a training day in Kyabram for new MATES Mentors, welcoming three enthusiastic volunteers to our team. The session focussed on building mentoring skills, understanding the needs of young people, and exploring ways to create positive, supportive relationships. It was a fantastic day filled with learning, sharing, and a strong sense of community.
As the program grows, we continue to see the positive impact of mentoring – students gaining confidence, setting goals, and feeling more connected to their school and community. We look forward to welcoming more mentors and expanding the program to reach even more young people. If you or someone you know is interested in becoming a mentor, please contact our Project Officer, Nikki Harris on 0428 474 014.
