We are delighted to share the success of Kyabram's very first Youth Expo held on 'Are You OK?' Day in Kyabram on Thursday, 14th September. This event organised collaboratively by the Years 8 – 10 students of Kyabram P-12 College, St Augustine's College, Rushworth P-12 College, and Rochester Secondary College, resonated with excitement and joy from stallholders, students, and teachers alike.
Over 30 stall holders attended the expo, providing a diverse range of activities, catering to a variety of interests. From carpet bowls to karaoke, footy to tennis, and numerous other sporting activities, the Youth Expo provided an inclusive platform for everyone to participate and enjoy.
Supported by FReeZA & Youth Fest funding, the Shire of Campaspe and the LLEN, the objectives of the expo include connecting young people to the community by promoting awareness of sports, community groups, and volunteer opportunities. The event aimed to encourage increased participation in these activities while informing young individuals about local health and welfare services and support networks, guiding them on how to access these resources.
Prior to the event, Youth Expo student leaders from the above schools, attended and took turns facilitating meetings, where they planned and organised the details surrounding the event, and allocating roles for the day among themselves. Their tremendous teamwork ensured a smooth and punctual setup for the event.
The growth observed in these young leaders leading up to the Youth Expo was truly remarkable. Over the weeks, they blossomed, showcasing enhanced leadership and organizational skills. Witnessing their development was a testament to the transformative power of such initiatives, highlighting the importance of fostering leadership qualities in the youth.
The Youth Expo received a marvellous amount of positive feedback from stallholders, students, and teachers alike.
