On Wednesday night we celebrated the outstanding achievements of Vocational Education & Training (VET) students within our regional schools at an Awards Night at the Moama Bowling Club. Around 600 secondary school students are enrolled in VET subjects in our region. Forty-five finalists were presented with certificates during the Awards ceremony, with winners announced in 19 categories.
Organised by the Campaspe Cohuna Local Learning and Employment Network (LLEN), the night was a great success with more than 220 people attending. Students and their families, schools, host employers and sponsoring businesses were all invited to attend.
Students are nominated for the Awards by their VET teachers and trainers and must have completed a work placement in industry to be eligible. Host employers provide reports on individual student performance. Nominated students submit their resumes and attend an interview with a panel of judges. The process is good preparation for entering the workforce. The judges were impressed by the outstanding calibre of the candidates.
Anne Trickey, Executive Office of Campaspe Cohuna LLEN congratulated all involved, “The Awards Night is all about celebrating the achievements of young people and acknowledging the commitment and support of industry to provide authentic and quality work placements for our VET students.”
