Trish Martin
Representing Other Education and Training Organisations
Trish is based in Echuca as the business development officer for MEGT New Apprenticeship Centre, responsible for developing apprenticeships and traineeships across a wide area stretching from Wodonga to Mildura. She is also the School-Based New Apprenticeships coordinator for Murray-Mallee CCLLEN. With 13 years in the training and employment fields in this region, Trish has a wealth of experience to share. Strengths she brings to CCLLEN: “Our focus group is those aged 15 to 24. I use marketing and networking skills to get out there working with young people and industry, getting people involved in programs aimed at giving kids a go.” Aspirations for CCLLEN: “We have huge rural and regional skills shortages. The employers need to protect their businesses by continually training workers, so I would like to see more youth coming in to industries so that they get experience and they and the employers can test each other out. We also have to widen out kids’ perceptions: a food processor offers not only process work but scientific and technology positions as well.
